Welcome welcome! My name is Rebekah and for as long as I can remember, I have been obsessed with animals! For many years I wanted to be a veterinarian, but that all changed when I discovered the world of conservation. In the spring of 2018, I had the opportunity to work with a group of very conservation and animal welfare-driven people. Their mindsets were all very focused on making this world a better place for animals and humans. To see so many people so passionate and focused on a common goal was really inspiring and I realized that that is exactly what I want, but it was more than just that. I want to show others my passion and encourage them to be excited about conservation as well. That is where this blog comes into play! I want to teach readers about different past, ongoing, and future conservation projects. I want to use this platform to teach readers what is going on in the world of conservation and how they can help.
Merriam-Webster defines conservation as “a careful preservation and protection of something, especially: planned management of a natural resource to prevent exploitation, destruction, or neglect”. I think this definition is right on, conservation is the act of conserving something, and is often used in reference to wildlife, water, or other natural resources. There are many organizations that spear-head conservation works around the world and help in conserving animals, plants, fresh water, and other resources. These organizations include Universities, the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums, US Fish and Wildlife Service, The Nature Conservancy, The World Wildlife Fund, and so many more! As I highlight different animals, I plan to discuss the projects, past and present, that are happening for that animal and which organizations are leading these projects.
I would like to include a disclaimer. I am not a sponsor for any of these organizations, I do not get paid to write these posts. I am simply doing this to spread a message that I believe in.
